About Back pain
Millions of Americans suffer from back pain and understand the importance of a healthy, well-adjusted spine. The spine supports just about every movement your body makes, and when it’s not functioning as it should, problems aren’t far behind. Dr. Li can determine the cause of your back pain and restore your body so pain and discomfort disappear and an efficient body takes its place.
Why Our Patients Come to Mobility Plus Downtown Seattle Chiropractic Care
We see patients that have severe back pain and struggle to simply turn their head and patients who have dull back pain that arises after a long day in front of the computer (and everything in between).
Back pain is the most common reason to see a chiropractor and you better believe there are several kinds of back pain.
Our Seattle chiropractic office sees all kinds of people, at differing activity-levels, working in many different industries, at all stages of life. For this reason, we never take a one-size-fits-all approach to back pain treatment.
Most patients who come in for a visit and to set up a health plan to reduce their pain and get fully functioning are struggling with at least one of the following problems:
- Blunt, sharp, or shooting back pain
- Sciatica issues
- Lower back pain
- Tingling or numbness in the back
- Radiating pain from the back to legs
It’s important to see a chiropractor when this pain starts, if put aside and untreated, the body depends on other (wrong) muscles, tendons, and ligaments for support to compensate for the damaged areas. This will lead to more pain and cause more problems.
Why You Should Visit a Chiropractor for Your Back Pain
Your whole body depends on the proper, healthy function of the spine so being sure it’s working at its best is going to be key to your ultimate and overall wellness. If the back is injured, the rest of your body is compromised as well and this will cause more harm to other areas.
Our chiropractic office knows the appropriate steps to take to get your body back. We want our patients to live a healthy, pain-free life and we are confident that we can help you get there. In most cases, back pain is due to compressed nerves or disc issues. Dr. Li is experienced in finding the problem and getting the body to its natural state quickly and organically.
We recommend visiting our Seattle office as soon as you can if you are experiencing any of these symptoms:
- Intense back pain
- Chronic lower back pain
- Sciatica pain
- Radiating pain starting in your back and moving into your legs
- Weakness, tingling, or numbness in any area of your back
- Loss of range of motion in your back
- Swelling of affected areas of your back
- Redness or discoloration of your back
The underlying condition may be severe, but a chiropractor can help and in many cases, the pain can be eliminated quickly. Some more serious injuries include:
- Bulging disc
- Sprain / strain
- Disc herniation
When patients have chronic back pain, chiropractic care is highly recommended. Dr. Li can determine the cause and help create a lifestyle plan that will contribute to the success and longevity of a healthy body.

Mobility Plus uses the following additional services and therapies to benefit back pain and its cause:
This system works wonders on a number of back problems and pains. Using both diagnostic and therapeutic recovery methods, clinical neurodynamics will provide speedy and effective results. It is one of our most used practices for patients in pain.
Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS)
We use DNS for patients who are having problems with motor control. Our motor skills develop as children and our muscles remember the motor patterns necessary for functionality, however, as we age, that motor control starts to lapse. DNS can identify the problems and correct them.
Dr. Li is one of the only chiropractors in Washington to use DNS treatment, his experience with this technique has proven invaluable to his patients, and their quick recovery.
McKenzie Institute Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT)
One of the most popular approaches to chiropractic treatment, MDT provides insight into cervical and lumbar herniations and general pain found in the body. This therapy is accurate and reliable and can find the origin of pain.
MDT is used to help patients with acute low back pain. It’s more commonly used in physical therapy clinics, however, Dr. Li is well versed in this therapy as well.
Functional Movement Screen (FMS)
This screening process assesses the patient's movement and patterns. Oftentimes patients over-use their muscles, whether through repetitive movements, working style, posture, or athletics. FMS will review the body from the inside out detailing mobility, motor control, and function, providing your chiropractor with valuable insight into the patient’s wellness plan.
This is another natural approach used in our Seattle chiropractic office that most other chiropractors and PTs don’t use.
Postural Restoration Institute (PRI)
PRI practitioners can recognize asymmetries in the patient’s body, inclusive of neurological, respiratory, circulatory, and muscular systems. This therapy is focused on the body’s weaknesses that often appear as pain when the patient uses specific muscles or movements.
Mobility Plus Downtown Seattle Chiropractic Care will use this method on many athletic patients who may have pain due to sports-related injuries. Often, these injuries occurred years ago and were never properly treated.
Dermal Traction Method (DTM)
This treatment method allows the skin to be treated, removing discomforts such as tingling, burning, dull pain, sharp pain, and more. Usually, the cause of the pain or discomfort is due to nerves embedded in the skin. DTM restores the nerves and dermal sensations subside.
There are numerous kinds of chiropractic manipulations used at our office. Some are manual and others require the use of hand tools and movable tables. We only use treatments our patients feel comfortable with and will always support the needs and confidence of the individuals we treat.
It’s important that every individual patient understands that combining therapies with rehabilitation such as stretching and exercising is often the best way to tackle pain and its underlying cause. We offer supporting recovery tools that can be done at home or even in the office if needed.
We will cater to each patient’s needs and put together a health plan that they will be successful with. Our means are always natural, requiring no surgery or use of medication, we adhere to a noninvasive, risk-free approach for the ultimate support of our wellbeing.
More About Back Pain / Low Back Pain
Although chiropractors treat more than just back pain, many people will initially see one looking for relief from this pervasive condition. In fact, about 31 million Americans experience back pain at any given time.
To bring things more into perspective, back pain is the single leading cause of disability, preventing most who have it from working or participating in daily activities.
The back is a complicated structure of bones, ligaments, joints, and muscles. You can sprain ligaments, strain muscles, rupture discs, and irritate joints; all of which can lead to back pain.
Spinal manipulation is a safe and effective non-pharmaceutical treatment. It reduces pain (decreasing the need for medication in some cases), rapidly advances physical function, and requires very few passive forms of treatment, such as bed rest.
At Mobility Plus Downtown Seattle Chiropractic Care, we combine chiropractic manipulation with functional rehabilitation tailored to your needs to get you back to what you LOVE to do.

Dr. Li is one of the most genuine healthcare practitioners and people I've met.
He spends the time you need to understand your problem, educates you about the causes, and devises a program to help you find long term solutions instead of a temporary band-aid.
I've been a lifelong athlete but have learned more in a month with Dr. Li than the three decades prior.
And best of all, my pain has virtually disappeared and I finally feel durable - no longer afraid of my body failing me. I highly recommend Dr. Li for anyone looking to solve their chronic pain issues, even if it's not keeping you on the sidelines.

I have had lower back on and off for several years and I have consulted doctors and chiropractors who were able to relieve the pain temporarily. But it invariably came back either while lifting in the gym or playing tennis.
A colleague recommended Dr.Li as an effective and "different" kind of doctor.
So I had my doubts when I went in, but now a few months later I can confidently say that he is "different", in that he treats the underlying cause of the pain and not just the symptom.
He takes a personal interest in his patients and measures progress in a manner similar to how we measure KPIs in the tech industry. My pain is gone now and I feel fitter and more flexible now than I have ever been.
