Welcome to 2019, everybody!!
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season 🙂
Let’s kick start the year off right!
Whether or not you’re a resolution-ist, setting goals can help you stay on track.
Because it’s the start of a new year, you may want to take the opportunity to reflect on what you accomplished in the past year.
It is ALWAYS good practice to recognize and applaud yourself for everything that you have already achieved so that you have a sense of direction in what you plan to accomplish next.
Positive reinforcement is the trick!
Here are a few tips and tricks that you can implement to start your new year off right!
Do you ever find yourself setting goals and then losing the motivation to do them?
You try your damnest to push yourself through the barriers because on the outside “it’s the right thing to do.”
But deep down you really just don’t want to?
If you are not motivated from within, you will always find something externally to try and keep you going.
If you’ve agreed to everything written in this paragraph so far, then the problem probably isn’t motivation but rather lack of alignment (no pun intended).
Hence tip #1: Set goals, aligned with your soul and purpose.
Keep your goals visible!
I don’t know about you, but I always find myself abandoning projects if I don’t set deadlines!
Deadlines can really help you stick to projects that you may have been procrastinating on.
That being said, you want to make sure that your deadline is ATTAINABLE.
Take into account of your life and your schedule. You want to make it as easy as possible for you to actually accomplish your goals!
Review your goals each week and track your progress.
If you don’t already have a calendar or an agenda, I would HIGHLY recommend you that do!
It could be Google Calendar, a Bullet Journal, whatever! Find one that works for you.
You want to choose something that’s convenient for you to bring everywhere.
Once you find the perfect one, take all those goals you set and start breaking them down and scheduling out time that you’ll dedicate towards completing them.
The whole point of setting goals is to achieve them. Especially when they are aligned with what you truly desire and are passionate about in life –they become something that you must achieve rather than something that you could achieve.
This brings tip #3: Get an accountability partner or system.
This type of system ties your goal to a person or a group of people that will hold you accountable.
Find people that you trust to keep you going. Not only will your accomplishment be celebrated, but you will also have support system in place in case you hit a roadblock.
If you can’t complete a goal you’ve set by your deadline, let me be to first to say that IT IS OKAY! Don’t let this discourage you!
Sometimes life just happens and we have to set whatever we’re working towards to the side for a little while.
Failure is essential to success.
Get back on your feet and set another deadline!
